Tire Blowout Causes Fatal Rollover Crash on Highway 395 in Susanville
SUSANVILLE, CA (November 16, 2018) – At least one person was killed following a rollover crash Friday morning on Highway 395 in Susanville, authorities said.
The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. involving a white Ford Econoline van pulling a trailer and a blue car that was traveling in opposite direction.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the van got a flat tire causing its driver to lose control and veer into the path of the other car. One of the vehicles overturned due to severe impact and went about 20 feet down an embankment.
One occupant, only described as an elderly woman, was unconscious but still breathing when first responders arrived.
An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene to transport at least one party to a hospital. Sadly, that patient did not survive and was declared dead.
