Susan Hye Dies, 2 Injured in Accident near Maytown Rest Area
Maytown, WA (July 20, 2020) – On Friday, Susan Hye died, and William Hye, as well as Mark Weldon sustained injuries in a crash near a Maytown rest area.
Authorities described the responsible driver as a 28-year-old woman from Winlock.
She did not seem impaired, and police believe she had a possible medical episode, said State Patrol spokesperson Ryan Burke.
Authorities said the woman hit a total of four vehicles and three pedestrians before finally stopping in a parking stall, just before 1 p.m.
However, police said drugs and alcohol are not factors in the crash. They said the woman may have been in a medical emergency when she struck the vehicles and pedestrians.
Additionally, authorities closed the rest of the area for over three hours as they investigated the crash.
Sweet Lawyers express their condolences to the family and friends of Susan Hye. May you find strength during this painful time.
The Aftermath of a Fatal Crash
It is clear now more than ever that one person’s negligence can have devastating effects on other individuals. This is quite common in accidents that result in death.
As the loved ones of the deceased victims grieve, it is important to recognize that if your family loses a member in an accident, you may recover damages through a wrongful death suit.
Ultimately, a wrongful death lawsuit gives the loved ones of a departed family member an opportunity at justice.
“The aftermath of tragic accidents can make everything difficult for a family. The last thing most families want to deal with is piles of paperwork, questions from insurance companies or defense attorneys, and attempting to obtain police reports. Grieving and handling legal claims don’t exactly go hand in hand. That’s why hiring an experienced legal representative will give you peace of mind that you have an advocate in your corner, one that also makes sure your rights are respected, and that justice is served. Having a lawyer after such a traumatizing event will provide your family the space to heal, while making sure your loved one is vindicated,” says Mark Sweet, a seasoned attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
