53-Year-Old St Helena Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Crystal Springs Road
ST HELENA, CA (November 7, 2018) – A woman was killed early Wednesday morning following a pedestrian crash near Crystal Springs Road. The victim was later identified as 53-year-old Susan Cardoza, a resident of St Helena.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 6:20 AM in the 3500 block of Silverado Trail North. The pedestrian was standing near the southbound lane when she was struck by a 2014 Hyundai.
Cardoza suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The Hyundai driver, identified only as a 61-year-old Santa Rosa man, remained on site and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact the authorities as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
