Major Injuries Sustained in Sunol Car Collision
SUNOL, CA (February 24, 2019) – At least one person was airlifted with major injuries following a head-on collision Sunday evening in Sunol.
The collision happened around 9:07 p.m. on Highway 84 at Old Vallecitos Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a red pickup truck and a gray sedan collided head-on.
Due to the impact, debris from the accident was scattered on the roadway. When officers arrived, one vehicle was recovered on the left shoulder and another on the right shoulder.
Two patients were found in the crash site, one was reportedly unconscious on the ground and another one was trapped in the sedan.
An air ambulance transported one of the patients to a hospital who was seriously injured from the crash.
There were no descriptions of any vehicular damages, but both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
It is unknown if speed, drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
