Sudipta Sarkar Injured in Horrific Head-On Crash on US 101 and Lostman Creek Trail [Humboldt, CA]

1 Dead in Humboldt Auto Accident on US 101 and Lostman Creek Trail

HUMBOLDT, CA (November 29, 2023) – Monday morning, Sudipta Sarkar suffered injuries in a horrific head-on crash on US 101 and Lostman Creek Trail.

The incident between a semi-truck/trailer and a passenger vehicle happened at around 8:25 a.m. on US 101, north of Lostman Creek Trail.

According to reports, Sarkar of Irvine drove a southbound 2015 Audi Q5 on US 101. However, the driver veered into the northbound US 101 lane, directly into the path of the semi-truck/trailer.

Meanwhile, the Freightliner driver failed to avoid the Audi. As a result, it collided head-on with the Audi.

Moreover, the impact caused the Audi to roll over, trapping the occupants upside down against the front of the Freightliner.

As a result, the right front passenger of the Audi sustained fatal injuries. Meanwhile, responders took the middle rear passenger of the Audi to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Moreover, responders airlifted Sarkar and the left rear passenger of the Audi to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with major injuries. Also, responders took the right rear juvenile passenger to St. Joseph Hospital with moderate injuries. Also, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identities of the other parties due to pending family notification.

Meanwhile, the Freightliner’s driver sustained no injuries in the crash.

Also, the authorities do not believe that drugs and or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Emergency personnel including Cal Fire, CA State Parks, Caltrans, US National Park Service, Orick Volunteer Fire Department, Arcata/Mad River Ambulance, and Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office all came to the scene.

Furthermore, the CHP Humboldt Area office handles the investigation. Also, they urged anyone who may have additional information to contact the California Highway Patrol at 707-822-5981.
