JACKSON, CA (November 18, 2021) – Wednesday, a Stockton man died in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 49 and Old Highway 49.
 
According to reports, the man drove a Honda south on State Route 49, north of Old Highway 49 at a high rate of speed. Meanwhile, a Pine Grove woman drove her Toyota north on State Route 49, north of Old Highway 49 at a speed of 45-50 mph.
 
Then, the Honda drifted off the west road edge of State Route 49. Afterward, he abruptly veered to the left and drove across the double yellow lines. Eventually, he went into the Toyota’s direct path of travel. The Toyota driver hit the brakes but couldn’t avoid the crash with the Honda.
 
As a result, the Toyota’s front end hit the right rear of the Honda. The force ejected the Stockton man from his vehicle. Then, the Honda spun out of control, went off the east roadway edge of SR-49, and hit a tree.
 
The crash left the man with fatal injuries. Meanwhile, the Pine Grove woman suffered minor injuries.
 
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
