65-Year-Old Man Killed in Street Racing Accident near California Street
STOCKTON, CA (March 25, 2018) – A driver was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Oak Street involving illegal street racers, early Sunday evening.
The incident occurred just before 5:00 PM when two cars were apparently racing against each other on California Street. One of the racing vehicles, a black pickup truck, then crashed into a white car that was driven by a 65-year-old man on Oak Street.
Police say that the victim had nothing to do with the race. After the crash, the black truck could be heard speeding away. Police are not releasing the description of the other suspect’s vehicle, but it was reported to have been impounded.
The man in the white car was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Stockton police released surveillance footage of the events just before the crash. Anyone with additional information relevant to the investigation is urged to contact police at (209) 937-8354.
