Police Search for Hit-and-Run Driver that Struck Little Girl near California Street
STOCKTON, CA (May 17, 2018) – A little girl was struck and injured in a hit-and-run accident on Cleveland Street, just north of Downtown Stockton, early Thursday afternoon.
Four-year-old Jenny was riding her bicycle on the 400 block of Cleveland St near California Street, when she was struck by a van around 1 PM. She was then dragged for a short distance, before the driver sped off and fled from the scene.
Witnesses stated that the young girl was lying in the street with tire marks on her head and arm. Emergency personnel and Stockton Police officials arrived at the scene. Jenny suffered serious injuries and was taken to the UC Davis Hospital. Family members day despite a fractured skull and a lot of blood loss, Jenny is expected to survive.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision, and believe that the suspect vehicle is a green or light blue Chevrolet Astro van. There is currently no description of the hit-and-run driver at this time.
