Bicyclist Struck and Killed between Ivy and Clayton Avenues
STOCKTON, CA (March 15, 2018) – On Thursday afternoon around 3:20 PM, a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on El Dorado Street, on the south side of Stockton.
Police received reports of a fatal accident in the 3200 block of El Dorado St. The area is described as a long stretch of road with several industrial warehouses and barren land.
According to Officer Joe Silva, spokesman for the Stockton Police Department, authorities and medics arrived and found that an adult male had died at the scene. The driver who hit the bicyclist remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Based on preliminary investigation, speed may have been a factor in the collision, Silva added.
Traffic investigators were able to gather evidence and interview the driver of the vehicle. Silva mentioned that drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the incident. Motorists and truckers had to find alternate routes after police closed off parts of South El Dorado Street between Ivy and Clayton avenues after the crash.
Deepest condolences to the family and friends of the man killed in this tragic accident. May he rest in peace.
