Man Pushing Shopping Cart Fatally Struck by Vehicle at Maple and Olive Avenues
FRESNO, CA (November 5, 2019) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash Tuesday evening in Fresno, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened around 9:00 p.m. on Maple Avenue, just north of Olive Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a male pedestrian who was pushing a shopping cart, was trying to cross the intersection when a pickup truck hit him.
The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man, stopped and called 911. A witness also stopped to render aid.
Paramedics arrived soon after and took the man to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Steven Rodriguez Sr., 61, of Fresno.
Police are still investigating the incident to determine the factors involved and liability.
