Steven Nelson of Bakersfield Involved in Highway 43 Vehicle Collision [Visalia, CA]

Visalia, CA (July 2, 2023) – On Friday, 33-year-old Steven Nelson of Bakersfield have been involved in a Highway 43 vehicle collision that resulted in a fatality.

CHP received the accident report at about 1:30 p.m. at Avenue 56 wherein two vehicles collided.

Investigating officers stated that the driver of a white Ford Fusion driven by a 25-year-old male from Fresno was eastbound on Avenue 56 toward State Route 43. At the same time, a red Toyota Tacoma driven by Nelson was northbound on State Route 43, also approaching Avenue 56.

The Ford failed to stop at the posted stop sign and drove through the intersection and collided with the Toyota.

Officers said the Ford driver was unrestrained and died in the collision.

Meanwhile, CHP is still investigating the Visalia traffic collision and said alcohol and/or drugs do not seem to be a factor.
