Afternoon Head-On Crash at Pass and West Butte Roads Kills Two
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (November 14, 2019) – Two people were killed following a head-on crash Thursday afternoon in Sutter County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. at Pass Road and West Butte Road.
CHP officials said a 17-year-old girl from Live Oak was driving a 2019 Honda westbound on Pass Road. At the same time, a 48-year-old man was driving a 2006 Honda eastbound on Pass Road.
One of the drivers crossed over into the opposing lane and hit the other head-on, but it has not been determined which car had crossed-over.
As a result, both drivers died at the scene. Officials identified one of the drivers as Steven Luke Flemming of Yuba City.
A passenger in the teenage driver’s car, a 17-year-old girl from Yuba City, was airlifted to Rideout Hospital with moderate injuries.
CHP Officials said intoxication was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
