1 Killed and 4 Injured in 3-Car Crash near West Avenue A
ROSAMOND, CA (October 18, 2018) – A man was killed Thursday evening following a three-vehicle collision near West Avenue A. The deceased victim was later identified as 61-year-old Steven Edward Sprinkle, a resident of Rosamond.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 8:30 PM. A Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by the victim, was heading north on Sierra Highway when it drifted out of its lane, entered the southbound lane, and struck a Chevy Tahoe.
The Tahoe, driven by 40-year-old Maria Salcedo Guerra, was then hit by a Subaru WRX that was driving behind it.
Sprinkle suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, Salcedo Guerra, an adult passenger, and a 2-year-old child were transported to the Antelope Valley Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Subaru WRX was also hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries. Their name was not immediately released.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
