Crash on West Avenue D Kills Steve Gonzalez, Injures Passenger Gabriella Itovargas
Lancaster, CA (August 3, 2020) – On Saturday afternoon, 25-year-old Steve H Gonzalez died in a car crash on West Avenue D.
California Highway Patrol said the accident happened at around 3:20 p.m. as Gonzalez was driving a 2017 Honda Civic, traveling east in the westbound lanes.
At the same time, 68-year-old Alson R. Hall from Victorville was approaching 45th Street West. He saw the Honda Civic moving toward his 2009 International Pro Star.
Hall drifted right to avoid Gonzalez; however, the front left of the Civic collided into his trailer.
Authorities pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene, while his passenger, 19-year-old Gabriella Itovargas of Lancaster, sustained minor injuries. Rescuers transported her to Antelope Valley Hospital.
Moreover, authorities continue to investigate to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. They said the roadway was dry and the visibility was clear at the time of the accident.
“Tragically, another life was lost here in the Antelope Valley,” Officer B. Taggart of the Antelope Valley California Highway Patrol said. “This is the 24th person killed so far this year.”
Meanwhile, please call Officer Taggart at the Antelope Valley CHP Office at 661-948-8541 if you have more information about the crash.
