Stephen Marteo Charged in Alleged DUI Crash That Left 11-Year-Old Bicyclist Injured
Rohnert Park, CA (June 10, 2020)– Stephen Marteo was arrested after an alleged DUI hit-and-run on Civic Center Drive.
On June 7, Rohnert Park Police Department of Public Safety received reports of a crash on 900 Civic Center Drive.
Around 7:07 p.m., witnesses reported to the police a hit-and-run incident involving a truck and a bicyclist. Witnesses said that the truck struck an 11-year-old boy in a bicycle.
However, the truck drove off and fled the scene.
The police and fire crews responded to the scene and initially gave the boy medical assistance. Shortly after that, an ambulance took the victim to a local hospital. According to the report, the boy sustained minor injuries as a result.
Police Arrest
While the Rohnert police investigated, a Cotati police officer identified the truck description, since it was broadcasted to law enforcement.
They immediately went to an address in the 500 block of West Sierra Avenue in Cotati. The police waited at the West Sierra address and saw the truck pull into the parking lot.
The Cotati officers detained the 28-year-old truck driver identified as Stephen Anthony Marteo from Cotati. Then, Rohnert police later arrested Marteo and booked him into the Sonoma County jail.
He is facing multiple charges including suspicion of felony hit-and-run, DUI with injury, and probation violation.
Furthermore, the bail is set at $110,000. In addition, he is set to appear in court on Tuesday afternoon.
