Stefania Medzyak of Soap Lake Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 1st Avenue Northwest
Ephrata, WA (April 22, 2021) – On Wednesday, 82-year-old Stefania Medzyak of Soap Lake died in a pedestrian accident on 1st Avenue Northwest.
The fatal accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. at the Basin Street Northwest intersection.
Officers said a Ford F350 pickup was southbound on 1st Avenue Northwest when, while turning east onto Basin Street, the driver accidentally struck the woman crossing the street.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian died at the scene.
Preliminary investigation showed the driver was making a left-hand turn when she clipped the pedestrian with her pickup.
Moreover, officers determined the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident. They added that the involved driver had no criminal intent, but failed to yield to the pedestrian.
Meanwhile, the involved driver spoke with the investigators and was released with a pending charge of failure to yield to a pedestrian.
