Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Collision on State Route 67 [Santee, CA]

Santee, CA (September 23, 2022) – At around 12:25 a.m. on Friday, a man lost his life in a hit-and-run collision on state Route 67.

A traffic officer pulled over a blue Nissan Altima driven by a 27-year-old Janet Mendoza on Interstate 8 near Interstate 5. Apparently, the vehicle appeared to have been with recent front-end crash damage.

The investigation with the woman led the authorities to SR 67, where they located a seriously injured man.

“The male had sustained major injuries consistent with being stuck by a vehicle,” CHP says.

Immediately, the paramedics assisted the male pedestrian, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Later on, the officers arrested the Nissan female driver on suspicion of hitting the man with her car and then fleeing the scene. They booked her into Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility in Santee.
