2 People Injured in Kitsap County Auto Accident on State Route 16
KITSAP COUNTY, WA (March 23, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, a startling wrong-way crash on State Route 16 injures 2 people.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the serious injury crash on State Route 16 involved a wrong-way driver.
The authorities said that a stolen pickup truck driver from Tacoma traveled east in the westbound lanes of State Route 16.
Then, he drove into a construction site and hit an SUV head-on, said WSP Trooper Robert Reyer.
Reyer confirmed that two people occupied the SUV.
Then, responders took one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the other suffered minor injuries.
After the crash, the stolen vehicle driver fled the crash scene on foot.
Moreover, responders brought a police dog to the scene to help track the suspect. Authorities also found a gun in the stolen truck.
State troopers and South Kitsap County fire personnel also came to the crash scene.
The WSP advised motorists to expect an “extended” closure due to the crash investigation.
