Injuries Reported in San Antonio Auto Accident on Interstate 35 near Benton City Road
SAN ANTONIO, TX (April 1, 2024) – Monday morning, a startling utility crane crash on Interstate 35 near Benton City Road injured 2 people.
Von Ormy Police Chief Lionel Perez revealed that a TxDOT bucket truck was doing some work on a grassy median on Interstate 35 near Benton City Road around 11:00 a.m. Then, a worker attempted to adjust the bucket truck.
Eventually, the crane crashed down on a sport utility vehicle driving northbound on the interstate.
Then, the crane landed on the vehicle’s hood, narrowly missing the roof.
Responders took two women in their 30s in the vehicle to a hospital with minor injuries. Moreover, the worker, a man in his 60s, also suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Moreover, the authorities haven’t disclosed what caused the bucket truck to topple over, but it may have been situated on an uneven grassy surface.
Then, the interstate reopened to traffic around 3:45 p.m.
Also, drivers were forced to take Exit 141 to go around the crash.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
