4 Firefighters Injured in Startling Traffic Crash on Interstate 345 Expressway [Dallas, TX]

Injuries Reported in Dallas Auto Accident on Interstate 345 Expressway and South Good Latimer

DALLAS, TX (July 22, 2024) – Sunday morning, 4 firefighters sustained injuries in a startling traffic crash on Interstate 345 Expressway.

The incident happened occurred at about 6:00 a.m. at Interstate 345 Expressway and South Good Latimer.

A fire truck veered off US-75 at Southeast Junction, leading to widespread disruptions.

Reports said that the incident has resulted in the closure of parts of I-345, South Good Latimer, Routh Street, and the DART Rail system to all traffic. Due to this accident, DART services experienced a power outage in the Downtown Dallas Central Business District, halting all train operations in the area. 

In response, the DART Operations team has established bus bridges at Cityplace/Uptown, Deep Ellum, Pearl/Arts District, West End, EBJ/Union, and Victory.

Service disruptions are expected on Monday morning and possibly into the afternoon and following days as repairs are made. The Dallas Police are leading the investigation, and once it concludes, DART will commence repair efforts.

“The crash resulted in severe damage to the DART system which might take a significant amount of time to repair,” DART revealed. “During this time, passengers should expect significant delays and should be mindful of signage and directions from DART personnel. ”   

The four firefighters involved are reported to be in stable condition.
