3 People Injured in Mead Valley Auto Accident on Brown Street and Oakwood Street

MEAD VALLEY, CA (August 29, 2024) – Tuesday night, a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries in a startling traffic crash on Brown Street.

The incident involving a patrol unit and a sedan happened just before 10:00 p.m. on Brown Street and Oakwood Street.

Officer Javier Navarro reported that a sheriff’s Ford Explorer was heading north on Brown when it was struck by a Toyota Camry coming from Oakwood, moving east at an undetermined speed.

The impact occurred when the sedan collided with the passenger side of the sheriff’s vehicle, Navarro stated.

“The cause of the crash is still under investigation,” said a CHP spokesperson.

Stop signs are posted on Oakwood, while Brown is a through street.

The deputy sustained minor injuries, while the two individuals in the Toyota suffered moderate to severe injuries, Navarro noted. The identities of those involved have not been released.

Navarro also mentioned that alcohol is not suspected to have played a role in the collision.

The California Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation, in line with the sheriff’s department’s policy of referring all incidents involving deputies to the state for an independent review.
