Injuries Reported in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Highway 99 and S Union Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 3, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a startling rollover crash on Highway 99 and S Union Avenue injured 1 person.

The incident happened at about 10:50 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near South Union Avenue.

According to reports, a northbound vehicle lost a wheel and rolled over to the right-hand side of the road. Then, the vehicle landed on the driver’s side door.

As a result, one person was stuck inside the wreckage. Meanwhile, an off-duty nurse aided the driver and contacted the emergency crews about the driver’s condition in the vehicle.

That person sustained major injuries, said the CHP’s Traffic Incident Information Page.

Furthermore, responders safely removed the patient from the wreckage, according to Jonathan Drucker with the Kern County Fire Department.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
