Injuries Reported in San Ysidro Auto Accident on Interstate 5 and SR 905

SAN YSIDRO, CA (September 15, 2024) – Friday night, a startling police chase crash on Interstate 5 and SR 905 injured officers.

The incident happened at 10:49 p.m. when CHP noticed an unidentified driver in a white BMW lost control and came to a stop in several lanes on I-5 northbound, south of State Route 905 in South Bay.

According to a CHP officer, they observed a San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officer attempting to stop a BMW, which then sped off northbound on I-5 before crashing at the SR-905 transition. 

Both a CHP and SDPD vehicle were involved in the collision. The officers were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. 

The driver of the BMW was arrested by SDPD officers. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation and urges any witnesses to contact their San Diego Area office at 858-293-6000.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
