65-Year-Old Man Hurt in San Diego Pedestrian Accident on Park Boulevard near University Avenue

SAN DIEGO, CA (July 17, 2023) – Sunday morning, a startling pedestrian crash on Park Boulevard near University Avenue injured 1 person.

The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Park Boulevard near University Avenue.

According to reports, as a 65-year-old man slept on a mattress in an alley off Park Boulevard, an eastbound vehicle on University Avenue veered right into the alley and hit him.

As a result, the man was dragged around 30 feet before the 48-year-old driver noticed what just happened and pulled over.

When the San Diego Fire-Rescue crews arrived, they utilized several pieces of equipment to lift the compact SUV to get the man out.

Police confirmed that the man sustained second- and third-degree burns on the left side of his body and a fractured femur.

Responders took him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, his identity remained undisclosed.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief John Fisher clarified that the man was positioned in a place where he couldn’t be spotted by the driver.
