1 Person Hospitalized in National City Auto Accident on East Plaza Boulevard near Highland Avenue

NATIONAL CITY, CA (August 23, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a startling pedestrian crash on East Plaza Boulevard near Highland Avenue injured one person.

The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of East Plaza Boulevard, between Palm and Highland avenues.

According to the National City Police Department, a Toyota RAV4 lost control for still unknown reasons. Then, the vehicle struck a male pedestrian before crashing through the front window of a Discount Tire shop. Also, the victim managed to move 40 feet from the Discount Tire to a nearby Starbucks.

Moreover, a witness to the crash, identified as Nick James, managed to apply a tourniquet made from a bandana to the victim’s severe injuries. Then, paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for further treatment.

At this time, the circumstances leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
