Injuries Reported in Tacoma Multi-Vehicle Accident on State Route 16
TACOMA, WA (November 27, 2024) – Monday night, a driver was arrested following a startling multi-vehicle crash on State Route 16.
The incident involving two cars and a tanker carrying argon gas happened just after 4:30 p.m. on State Route 16.
The truck driver was arrested for DUI, while two individuals from other vehicles were transported to nearby hospitals. Their conditions remain unknown.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) reported that both ramps from SR 16 to Sprague were closed for approximately five hours. The incident involved argon, a colorless, odorless, nonreactive noble gas commonly used in welding and lighting.
WSP confirmed that the gas does not pose any risk to the public.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
