Injuries Reported in Riverside Multi-Vehicle Accident on 60 Freeway and 215 Freeway
RIVERSIDE, CA (April 29, 2024) – Sunday morning, a startling multi-vehicle crash on 60 Freeway and 215 Freeway injured 3 people.
The incident happened just after 2:15 a.m. on 60 Freeway and 215 Freeway.
According to reports, as a driver traveled north on the southbound lanes, they struck one car on the 60 Freeway transition road.
The wrong-way driver continued driving the wrong way as sparks shot out from one of the tires.
“I saw the headlights coming toward me and for a second I thought I was the one on the wrong side, but I’m like wait, no I’m on the on-ramp,” said Brian Virgen. “My reaction was to steer right, stomp on my brakes, and honk the horn.”
When firefighters arrived, they extricated one person involved in the collision.
Meanwhile, the suspect escaped on foot from a black Dodge and was eventually apprehended off the freeway. Then, officers charged the driver with felony DUI and hit-and-run.
Moreover, the crash left two victims with major injuries, while a third person sustained moderate wounds.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
