Injuries Reported in San Antonio Motorcycle Accident on 11000 Somerset Road

SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 1, 2023) – Wednesday morning, an off-duty police officer sustained injuries following a startling motorcycle crash on 11000 Somerset Road.

The incident happened at about 10:00 a.m. as two off-duty San Antonio police officers on motorcycles escorted a funeral procession. The incident happened in the 11000 block of Somerset Road in an area that is undergoing construction.

As they headed south on Somerset Road, one of the officers moved from the rear of the procession to the front to relieve the other officer. However, a pickup truck driving northbound didn’t yield to the officer.

Afterward, the officer lost control of his motorcycle, ejecting him in the process until he went underneath the pickup truck.

Responders transported the injured officer to a hospital for a laceration to his knee and a back injury. However, authorities confirmed that the officer remained alert and talking to doctors.

Meanwhile, the pickup driver remained at the scene and is being questioned by officers.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
