LOMPOC, CA (September 24, 2023) – Friday night, a startling hit-and-run crash on 400 W Walnut Avenue injured 2 people.

The incident happened at about 7:11 p.m. near the 400 block of W Walnut Avenue.

According to reports, a hit-and-run occurred when a black Jeep tried to hit a woman and a 5-year-old girl who crossed the street.

Then, reports confirmed that the 54-year-old driver of the Jeep fled the scene.

Then, a concerned passerby flagged down another driver and told him to follow the Jeep. Then, that person managed to provide the Lompoc Police Department with the Jeep’s license plate.

“The effort and information provided by the community resulted in officers locating the vehicle and the arrest of Rafael Rodriguez for felony hit and run,” police revealed.

Moreover, the woman and child’s injuries were non-life-threatening.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
