Crippling Vehicle Crash on State Route 162 near Eel River

DOS RIOS, CA (February 22, 2024) – Tuesday night, a startling auto accident on State Route 162 near Eel River led to possible injuries.

The crash happened at around 9:17 p.m. Reports said that a CHP officer was on the scene of the accident near mile marker 15.

In the aftermath of the crash, one male juvenile was reported missing from the vehicle. However, the California Highway Patrol later rescued a 12-year-old juvenile from near the accident site.

Emergency personnel at the scene reported that one of the involved parties required a stretcher lift from the riverbank, suggesting possible injuries.

Additionally, at 11:03 p.m., a dispatcher requested an ambulance to respond to Code 3 after a firefighter suffered an unknown medical emergency. Subsequently, at 11:38 p.m., the Incident Commander informed dispatch that both patients were effectively up on the road, suggesting successful rescue efforts. Earlier, the ambulance call for the firefighter was canceled, indicating that they might be okay. However, due to unclear transmissions over the scanner, the exact circumstances remain uncertain.

At this time, the events that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
