Whitehouse Woman Staci Sexton Killed in Boat Accident at Lake Tyler [Smith County, TX]

Smith County, TX (August 18, 2024) – Staci Sexton, 38, of Whitehouse, and Jacob Ray, 38, of Troup, were killed in a boat accident at Lake Tyler Saturday morning.

It was about 6 a.m. when a fishing boat coming around the corner of a canal on the lake had struck a flat-bottom boat. Three people were on the flat-bottom boat and one man was on the fishing boat.

Responding rescuers located Staci Sexton unresponsive with life-threatening injuries and a woman somuffering from non-life-threatening injuries. 

Immediately, the medical team performed CPR on the critically injured woman, and took both patients to nearby hospitals. 

Unfortunately, Sexton succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. 

Moreover, a third person on the flat-bottom boat could not be located after the collision.

Luckily, the dive team has finally recovered the body of the missing man, Jacob Ray, around noon.

The man from the fishing boat remained at the accident scene and cooperated with the authorities.
