Several Cattles Killed in Hesperia Auto Accident on US 395 and Main Street
HESPERIA, CA (December 1, 2021) – Early Tuesday, a South Dakota man suffered injuries in a head-on crash on US 395 and Main Street.
The incident occurred at around 12:02 a.m. on US Highway 395, south of Main Street.
According to reports, a 2012 International semi-truck headed south on US Highway 395. Then, he hit an abandoned motorcycle in the southbound lane of traffic. As a result, the semi-truck crossed over into the northbound lane. Then, it crashed head-on with a 2022 Kenworth semi-truck.
Afterward, the Kenworth rolled over which was carrying 32 heads of cattle.
The crash trapped the 58-year-old male driver of the Kenworth and he required extrication. He sustained moderate injuries and went to a local hospital for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, the 41-year-old driver of the International from Pomona suffered no injuries.
“Investigators believe that for unknown reasons, the motorcycle was abandoned in the roadway. And investigators are actively attempting to identify the driver who fled the scene before or at the time of the collision,” reports said.
The crash killed seven of the cattle. Meanwhile, seven sustained severe injuries and were euthanized. Moreover, 8 of the cattle survived the crash. Also, ten escaped into the desert but were later found and rounded up.
Furthermore, the crash led to the closure of US Highway 395. Moreover, they urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Deputy T. Rogoff at the Hesperia Station.
