Woman in Bedroom Fatally Struck by A Vehicle Inside Their Riverside County Home
MORENO VALLEY, CA (March 19, 2018) – The Moreno Valley neighborhood was left shaken after a car crashed into a house, early Monday morning.
According to the fire department, the incident happened before 5:30 AM in the 16000 block of Lake Victoria Drive. Sophia Zapien, who was sleeping in her bedroom, was found trapped under the black Ford Mustang GT when rescuers arrived.
The 47-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mustang was reportedly unharmed in the collision. According to the driver’s mother, her son had an epileptic seizure attack while driving, and crashed into the victim’s house.
In the statement released by the investigators, the motorist was headed east on Superior Avenue. He first swerved and hit a stop sign before crashing through Zapien’s bedroom. The unidentified driver was taken in police custody and he cooperated with their investigation. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
