Sonora, CA (March 04, 2021) – On Sunday, 17-year-old Molly Burgess was found dead after a suspected hit-and-run crash on Highway 49.
 
The girl was located in a ditch near O’Hara Drive in the late afternoon.
 
Authorities said the victim was severely injured.
 
The officer who responded to the scene suspects the victim of being hit by a vehicle that took off from the scene.
 
Meanwhile, medical personnel declared the teenager died on the scene.
 
Her family is asking that the suspect or any witnesses to the accident come forward.
 
They know she spent the night at a friend’s house on Saturday; however, they do not know where she headed Sunday when the unknown vehicle struck her.
