Afternoon Collision on Highway 121 in Sonoma Ends in Fatality
SONOMA, CA (January 16, 2019) – One person was killed following a traffic collision Wednesday afternoon in unincorporated Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision happened around 2:51 p.m. on eastbound Highway 121 at Napa Road, just near the Stornetta Dairy complex.
CHP officials said a white sedan and a large truck — and possibly a third vehicle — were involved. Details surrounding the collision were not made clear in the reports, but one fatality was found as a result of the accident. It is still unknown if additional motorists or passengers sustained injuries in the crash.
A SigAlert was issued at 3:18 p.m., blocking the eastbound lanes of the Highway 121 from Ramal Road to Napa Road, and there was no estimate for clearing.
Traffic was initially being diverted onto Napa Road but there were reports Napa Road was possibly flooded from the rain, according to CHP dispatchers.
The Sonoma County coroner’s unit responded to the scene to investigate the fatality.
