FRESNO, CA (May 7, 2020) – On Wednesday night, a pedestrian named Sokhim Reed was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Fisher Street.
According to officers, the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m., on the intersection of Fisher Street and Olive Avenue.
Sokhim Reed, 39, was attempting to walk across the road when a white four-door vehicle, possibly a Dodge Charger, struck her in the intersection.
The witnesses added that after the impact, the involved vehicle then fled the scene.
When medical responders arrived, they took the Ms. Reed to a nearby hospital for further treatment. However, she later succumbed to her injuries.
“We haven’t found a witness that actually saw the entire incident, so we’re reaching out,” Lt. Tim Tietjen stated. “Officers are making contact door to door looking for witnesses. We’re also checking the street for surveillance video.”
Detectives also said that they are trying to specify the vehicle involved in the crash.
The surrounding area on Fisher Street was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
