20-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Collision near Cowley Way
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 16, 2018) – A 20-year-old skateboarder was hospitalized late Thursday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Mount Acadia Boulevard. His name and place of residence were not immediately shared with the public.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened at about 10:30 PM near Cowley Way. A silver or a white pickup truck was traveling west on Mount Acadia when it struck a northbound skateboarder.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital after sustaining serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. There is no update on his current medical condition. Meanwhile, the driver was last seen fleeing westbound in the 5100 block of Fields Street.
Authorities noted that the skateboarder did not stop at a stop sign, while the pickup driver halted before entering the intersection. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. The search for the hit-and-run driver is also ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the police as soon as possible.
