Skateboarder Hurt in Chico Hit-and-Run Crash at Sacramento Avenue
CHICO, CA (June 25, 2019) – A hit-and-run crash at Sacramento Avenue and Bidwell Avenue left a skateboarder injured Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, callers reported the incident at about 7:20 a.m. A silver or a gray sedan struck the 30-year-old male skateboarder while he was eastbound on West Sacramento Avenue. An investigator said the skateboarder landed on the westbound side of the road in a green area. As a result, that helped reduce his injuries.
A witness said the driver did not stop to check on the skateboarder and continued eastbound. Moreover, the driver rolled down their side window so that they could see to navigate.
The car may have had major damage on its windshield according to the investigators. However, they have not identified the vehicle’s make, model, and license number. Officers are now working with local businesses to help them out in their investigation.
In the meantime, the CHP urges anyone who has information about the vehicle or its driver to contact them at 530-332-2800.
It is important to abide by all traffic laws and observe safety precautions whether you are a driver or a pedestrian. If you’re driving, avoid distractions and look out for pedestrians at all times. If you’re a pedestrian, cross at designated crosswalks or intersections.
