1 Person Dead in Phelps County Auto Accident on Interstate 44 Westbound 

PHELPS COUNTY, MO (November 18, 2024) – Saturday morning, a devastating single-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 Westbound killed one person.

The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 44 Westbound.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a westbound 2019 Freightliner Cascadia veered off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and concrete bridge, went airborne, and crashed into an embankment.

Authorities confirmed that the 54-year-old male passenger of the vehicle died at the scene. Then, paramedics rushed the 37-year-old female driver of the truck to University Hospital with serious injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the Missouri State Highway Patrol continued to investigate the crash.
