EAST COUNTY, CA (June 13, 2023) – Friday afternoon, a tragic single-vehicle crash on Great Southern Overland Stage Route near State Route 78 killed one person.

The incident happened at around 3:30 p.m. on the Great Southern Overland Stage Route, south of state Route 78.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jared Grieshaber, a northbound 2004 Chevrolet SSR lost control on a curve. Then, it veered off the roadway and across all lanes before it crashed and rolled over. Then, the force of the crash two occupants of the vehicle into the roadway.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 61-year-old driver, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics airlifted a 56-year-old passenger of the vehicle to a hospital with serious injuries.
