Sidney Road Southwest Traffic Collision Kills 72-Year-Old Gig Harbor Man [Port Orchard, WA]

Port Orchard, WA (September 30, 2022) On Thursday afternoon, a traffic collision on Sidney Road Southwest claimed the life of a 72-year-old Gig Harbor man.

Authorities say that the fatal crash that involved a South Kitsap School District school bus happened at around 4:09 p.m. at the intersection with Southwest Spruce Road.

Reports say that a westbound silver Toyota Tacoma truck did not stop at a stop sign. Consequently, the Toyota drove into the path of the school bus. Officials say that the bus struck the driver’s side of the Toyota.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue says that the collision killed the Gig Harbor man driving the truck. Meanwhile, the bus driver suffered injuries due to the collision. Paramedics treated the bus driver at the scene.

Fortunately, no students were on the bus at the time of the collision.

Meanwhile, a newly formed county Multi-Agency Traffic Investigation Unit is handling the investigation of the fatal crash in South Kitsap.
