Kerens Resident Shirley Connerly Killed in Big Rig Crash on W Elm Street [Tyler, TX]

Tyler, TX (December 18, 2024) – Shirley Connerly, 79, and William Connerly, 82, both of Kerens, lost their lives following a big rig crash on W Elm Street Tuesday.

Tyler PD said a northbound GMC SUV on West Elm Street crossed the loop and it turned into oncoming traffic into the path of an 18-wheeler.

As a result, the big rig struck the GMC and pushed it into the oncoming traffic where it struck three cars on the other side of the loop.

Shirley Connerly and William Connerly, who were both riding the SUV were killed at the crash scene.

Moreover, the 18-wheeler driver and another driver of one of the involved vehicles were rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers diverted all northbound traffic while they investigated.
