3 Vehicles Involved in Deadly Fiery Collision on 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks
SHERMAN OAKS, CA (December 4, 2018) – A man was killed following a fiery three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Sherman Oaks, authorities said.
The crash happened around 10:42 a.m. along the northbound lanes of 101 Freeway at Van Nuys Boulevard off-ramp.
Details of how the crash occurred were not immediately available, but the impact caused one of the vehicles to overturn on its side and catch fire.
A male occupant in the burning vehicle, approximately 40 years old, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Two other people were taken to a hospital in fair condition.
CHP officials shut down several northbound lanes of the freeway while they worked on the scene.
Due to several factors remained unclear, investigation of this fatal incident is still ongoing.
