1 Hurt in Oakland Car Accident
OAKLAND, CA (March 22, 2019) – An Alameda County sheriff’s deputy sustained injuries in a crash near Oakland International Airport on March 20.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Ron Cowan Parkway. According to state officials, the deputy rode his vehicle while responding to a separate collision.
Meanwhile, a K-9 occupying the vehicle seemed okay as well. A veterinarian checked out the dog.
After responding to a separate collision, the deputy parked his car on the side of the roadway. At the same time, a speeding driver lost control of his car and struck the deputy’s vehicle. The impact caused the deputy’s vehicle to deploy all the airbags.
Officers added that the deputy hurt his hand, suffered blurred vision and burns from the airbag deployment. Medics transported the him to a nearby hospital. The deputy was eventually released.
Authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the collision.
