GRAPEVINE, CA (June 17, 2019) – A driver sustained major injuries in a rear-end crash involving a big rig on 5 Freeway early Thursday morning.
Officials said the accident occurred right before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway. 29-year-old Shedrick Parham of Anaheim was operating a vehicle at an unknown speed when he struck the back of the big rig. The crash caused Parham’s vehicle to lodge under the rear bar of the truck.
Emergency responders airlifted Parham to Kern Medical Center. He was in critical condition, while the driver of the big rig was uninjured.
The California Highway Patrol and the Kern County Fire Department responded to the scene. Officers said alcohol and drugs do not appear as factors in the crash.
