Fatal Rollover Accident at Woods Valley and Oakmont Roads
VALLEY CENTER, CA (May 9, 2019) – A man was killed following a rollover crash Thursday morning on a rain-slicked roadway Valley Center, authorities said.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as a 46-year-old Shawn Tyler Priest of Valley Center.
Priest was driving alone westbound in the 14600 block of Woods Valley Road, just East of Oakmont Road around 8:30 a.m. when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve and overturned.
He was thrown from his car, resulting to critical injuries.
Bystanders tried to resuscitate him and paramedics took him to Palomar Medical Center. Sadly, he did not survive and was pronounced dead.
It had been lightly raining throughout the morning and the pavement was wet. Priest was driving a bit too fast on the slick road and began sliding over the double-yellow line. He exited the roadway and hit a rock, which caused his vehicle to roll over several times.
Further investigation of this incident is underway.
During this mournful time, we would like to send our well-wishes and sincere sympathies to the grieving family and friends of Shawn Priest.
