Shawn Priest Killed in Valley Center Rollover Collision
VALLEY CENTER, CA (May 11, 2019) – A man died after a solo rollover accident on a rain-slicked roadway in Valley Center on Thursday, May 9.
Officials identified the deceased as 46-year-old Shawn Tyler Priest, of Valley Center.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe, Priest drove westbound on the 14600 block of Woods Valley Road at about 8:30 a.m.
It had been lightly raining that morning and the pavement was wet.
Latulippe stated that Priest drove a bit too fast on the slick road and the vehicle slid over the double-yellow line. He then exited the roadway and crashed into a rock. This caused his vehicle to roll over multiple times.
The impact of the crash ejected Priest from his car. He suffered critical injuries. Latulippe confirmed he died at the hospital after the incident.
No one else was hurt.
Latulippe said he personally knew Priest and described him as a great man. The CHP officer said that he will be a huge loss to the community.
No additional details were available.
We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Shawn Priest.
