Shawn Milton Dead, Gustavo Blanco Arrested in Fresno DUI Accident
FRESNO, CA (July 22, 2019) – A driver identified as 40-year-old Shawn Milton died after a DUI collision on Saturday, July 20.
The accident occurred at Kings Canyon Road and Maple Avenue just before 10 p.m.
According to police, a vehicle traveled westbound on Kings Canyon about 70 to 80 miles per hour blew a red light. Then, it T-boned a car in the Maple intersection that sent the car half a block down the roadway.
Milton, the driver of the vehicle that was struck, died at the scene. Responders rushed his passenger and Blanco to CRMC.
A GoFundMe page created by Milton’s family members stated that he was a father of five and was expecting his sixth child next month.
Fresno police said that the driver who ran a red light and caused the deadly crash had been driving under the influence. Officers identified him as 31-year-old Gustavo Blanco.
Authorities charged Blanco with felony DUI and felony vehicular manslaughter.
