2 Injured in Willows Car Accident on Highway 162
WILLOWS, CA (March 6, 2020) – Two people were transported to a hospital after a DUI car accident on Highway 162 on March 4.
The California Highway Patrol detained Sharon Pielago under DUI charges after causing a crash on Highway 162 west of County Road FF.
The CHP said that Pielago’s Chevy Sedan first drove east on Highway 162, near a Ford pickup heading west.
As Pielago made an unsafe turn, her Sedan veered into the opposing lane, and thus into the Ford pickup’s path.
The collision caused the Ford pickup to roll over and stop in the road.
Meanwhile, the sedan halted on the north side of the road and crashed into a utility pole. Willows CHP Tracy Hoover later revealed that the Ford pickup involved was a state vehicle for the CDC.
Responders hospitalized 53-year-old Chevy driver Sharon Pelagio from Chico and 42-year-old Ford driver Kieth Silva from Sparks, NV.
The CHP also confirmed that Pelagio was the cause of the crash. Furthermore, they have arrested her for suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
