70-Year-Old Woman Killed in Pedestrian Collision near East J Street
BENICIA, CA (January 5, 2019) – An elderly woman has died a day after she was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver near East J Street. The victim was later identified as 70-year-old Sharon DeLamore. Her city of residence was not immediately disclosed to the public.
According to the Benicia Police Department, the incident happened at about 6:15 PM. A pedestrian was found lying by the side of the road in the 1000 block of East Fifth Street.
DeLamore suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. On Sunday evening, the victim was pronounced dead by medical staff.
The suspect vehicle, described as a red or maroon sedan, did not stop and immediately fled the area. Police are asking residents and businesses in the area to check their security cameras for images recorded between 5:50 PM to 6:00 PM.
